I've tried to bring them
snowflakes in January
blooms in May
cupcakes and sweet tea
a hot sun and a tree for shade
the beach, a radio, pails and shovels for the sand
a first class seat on a flight overseas
a prison break, a fearless language,
an explanation of how I knew I loved him
alternatives to fists and the insults they spit
a smile to help them try again

Oh yeah, this sounds familiar ... and sometimes I think I succeed, but then there are the other times, you know? I had a few of both this week.
I can really relate to those last two lines. That's all I do in my preschool classroom (of mostly boys)...kids these days man...it's hard out hea' for a teacher!
